On June 6th, More than 1,500 students will be connected with more than 50 local business professionals from a variety of professions and industries to inspire them to pursue local careers. It will include careers that require a college degree as well as those in the trades. Students will hear from two different professionals in their industries of choice.
The event is an OnTrack Washington County initiative, supported by a coalition of partners that includes Washington County Public Schools, Hagerstown Community College, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Hagerstown Committee & Washington County Public Schools Education Foundation.
“Our Career Exploration Day is a great example of the community working together to improve our future workforce,” said Jim Kercheval, acting executive director for OnTrack. “Our coalition partners, through the work of OnTrack, established a need to inspire students at a young age to pursue careers in our region, and educate them on the education and training they will need to acquire these jobs. Multiple active partners in the coalition came together and organized this event, and the business community provided the presenters and the financial support.”
